Common questions
Does it work on a free Webflow site?
Webflow only lets you add custom code on a site with a paid Site plan, or in a paid Workspace, so you need one of those. GhostChat itself is free for one site.
Will it slow down my Webflow site?
No. The script loads with defer, after your page content, and it is a fraction of the size of widgets like Intercom and Crisp.
Can I show the chat on only some pages?
Yes. Skip Site settings and open Page settings for each page instead. Paste the snippet under Custom code, in the Before </body> tag box, then publish. It needs the same paid plan.
Does it run on CMS template pages?
Yes. Code in the site-wide Footer code runs on every page, CMS templates included.
Do I need to republish when I change the widget?
Not for colors, text or settings. The widget loads those from your GhostChat dashboard each time a page opens. You only republish if you change the snippet itself.
Why don't I see the chat in the Designer?
Webflow doesn't run site-wide custom code while you design. Publish, even just to your webflow.io address, and open the live site to see the chat.
